University Mentoring
Over the last several years, Kimi Ceridon has been invited to be a professional mentor, team coach and international trip leader for teams participating design courses at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
D-LAB - DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT & DISSEMINATION LAB
D-Lab is a year-long series of courses and field trips.

- Team Leader for a month long field visit to implement rural solutions and meet local innovators innovators.
- D-Lab I is the fall class that provides a basic background in international development and appropriate technology through guest speakers, case studies and hands-on exercises. Most recently, I visited Chennai, India.
- Team Mentor guiding teams on appropriate technology design throughout the spring semester.
- D-Lab II is a design studio course in which students about design for developing countries and work on creating technologies for under-served communities. The course consists of case studies, hands-on labs, guest speakers, and a guided design process with reviews by experts and professionals in development and design. Students work in multidisciplinary teams on term-long projects in collaboration with community partners, field practitioners, and experts in relevant fields.
- Team Coach mentoring design teams in the product development process.
- PDD covers modern tools and methods for product design and development. The cornerstone is a project in which teams of management, engineering, and industrial design students conceive, design, and prototype a physical product. Class sessions employ cases and hands-on exercises to reinforce the key ideas. Topics include: product planning, identifying customer needs, concept generation, product architecture, industrial design, concept design, and design-for-manufacturing.
- Guest Lecturer on 'Design for Environment'
- For the 'Design for the Environment' lecture, Kimi introduces the basics of Life Cycle Analysis tools and design applications. The lecture discusses the Dimensions of Environmental Impact, Green Marketing, Eco-Labeling, Life Cycle Analysis, Design for Recycling, Sustainability and Product Designs.
